What We Offer
Everything on Quiz Search is created with genuine care for film culture — not to fill a page, but because these subjects deserve proper attention.
Each collection is built around a specific era, director, genre or cinematic tradition. Questions are researched from primary sources — film reference books, archive interviews, and verified historical records.
Planning a quiz night with friends or family? Our themed packs cover everything from British cinema to science fiction. Questions are structured to work at different difficulty levels within a single sitting.
Designed with students of film and media in mind, these quizzes explore narrative structure, genre conventions, and the historical context behind landmark films — without the jargon.
Each month, our editorial team focuses on a particular film, director, or moment in cinema history, writing a short article and a companion quiz. It is a slow, thoughtful way to explore film culture.
Our Process
Every question on this platform goes through a consistent editorial process before it reaches you. We take accuracy seriously because getting the details right matters in film history.
Questions are drawn from verified film references — published books, academic sources, industry records, and reputable film archives. We do not rely on crowd-sourced databases.
Every answer is cross-referenced against at least two independent sources before inclusion. Where information is disputed or unclear, we leave the question out entirely.
Questions are written to be unambiguous. Correct answers should be clearly correct; wrong answers should be plausibly wrong, but not misleading. We avoid trick questions.
All quizzes pass through a final review by a member of our team with specific knowledge of the subject area before being published to the platform.

From Our Users
"I've used a lot of film quiz sites over the years, and the quality of research here is noticeably higher. The explanations after each answer are particularly helpful — you actually learn something."
"We used the themed quiz for a family evening and it worked brilliantly. The questions are challenging without being unfair, and there's enough variety that everyone felt included."
"The Classic Hollywood quiz was tougher than I expected — in the best way. A few questions made me realise how much I still have to discover. That's what a good quiz should do."
"I'm a film studies lecturer and I point students to this regularly as a low-pressure way to engage with cinema history. The explanations are accurate and helpfully contextualised."
"Simple to use and beautifully designed. I appreciate that it doesn't try to gamify everything or push you to share on social media. It's just a genuinely good quiz experience."
"Discovered this through an article about film literacy resources. The Oscar history quiz surprised me — I've followed the awards for years and still missed a couple. Very well put together."
The People Behind It
Quiz Search is run by a small group of people with a shared fondness for cinema, a genuine interest in getting details right, and considerable disagreement about the best Kubrick film.
Daniel studied film at the University of Warwick and spent a decade writing about cinema before founding Quiz Search. He has a particular interest in British New Wave and considers A Matter of Life and Death unreasonably underappreciated.
Miriam brings a background in cultural studies and a meticulous approach to fact-checking. She oversees all research for the platform and is responsible for ensuring that every answer we publish can be properly verified.
Robert spent twelve years as a film archivist before joining Quiz Search. His knowledge of pre-1960 cinema is, by most measures, excessive. He contributes the Classic Hollywood and documentary quiz series.
Aisha handles all technical development for the platform. She cares deeply about accessibility, readable code, and the small interaction details that make a quiz feel considered rather than cobbled together.
